The edible school

Twenty years ago, Alice Waters, founder of the “Chez Panisse Restaurant and Café” in Berkeley - California introduced her ideas into the public schools with the Edible Schoolyard.
This special program involves students in all aspects of growing, cooking, and sharing food at the table.Now, the Edible Schoolyard Berkeley (ESY Berkeley) is a one-acre organic garden and kitchen classroom for urban public school students at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. The mission of the Edible Schoolyard Project is to build and share a national edible education curriculum for  pre-kindergarten through high school.
